Who we are

Ramsgate Supported Living

Ramsgate Supported Living was established in 2007 and consists of five shared flats within two blocks and is based in Thanet, East Kent.

The team support individuals diagnosed with a Learning Disability, Mental Health, and those with complex needs. Support offered is around daily skills, finance management, education, employment and independence development.

We are developing flats within the service to support tenants with their specific conditions and have experienced trained staff within these flats to meet the individual’s requirements. When a tenant is ready to move on into independent living, they have the option of being supported by the Ramsgate Supported Living team in an outreach capacity so as to maintain continuity of support.

Each tenant holds an Assured Short hold Tenancy, as a company we feel we offer cost effective excellent person centered support packages.

The tenant’s are supported to develop close links with the local community .The service is in easy walking distance of all local amenities, Ramsgate train station is seven minutes walk from the service and has direct fast link services to London.

Each tenant has their own bedroom (some bedrooms have en suite facilities) and share a communal kitchen, lounge, bathrooms and or wet rooms. Tenants are encouraged to make friends with other tenants who live within the complex as well as developing friendships in the community at large.

OSAAT

One Step at a Time (OSAAT) was founded in 1999 to provide semi-independent services in West London. Since its foundation, the organisation’s skill base has broadened and we are now able to offer a wide range of services to individuals with a variety of specific needs.

We have a number of regional offices across Central England, the South East and the Thames Valley, with our Head Office based in Henley-on-Thames. As part of our growth, we are now in the process of establishing relationships with Local Authorities in a number of new localities, with the intention of further developing and improving our services.

We aim to deliver services that represent excellent value without compromising on quality, supporting people to access the full range of benefits they are entitled to. The costs for services are entirely dependent on individual needs and circumstances; therefore it is worthwhile contacting us at an early stage about a potential service in order to discuss individual requirements. Our team can advise on the range of factors that need to be taken into consideration as part of a planned person-centred assessment process.

As an organisation, we exist to promote choice and independence for the people who choose to receive our services. Therefore, our goal is to provide the right environment to enable the people we support to move towards developing the skills they will need to achieve their goals.

It is also our belief that each person receiving support should lead and be central to the planning process. Through respecting and promoting individual rights and dignity, we support people to speak and advocate for themselves in order for them to have the same opportunities as any other member of society.

Everyone has the potential to develop the motivation and competence to lead a fulfilling life if they are provided with the appropriate support and opportunities. Our goal is therefore to create the right supportive environment and to assist each individual in gaining a realistic perspective on how to integrate into the community.

Each and every service user is a person with unique needs; One Step at a Time is committed to respecting their dignity and giving them the opportunity to be themselves. Our project members are provided with an environment in which they can feel safe and secure, and are encouraged to lead full and active lives.

Ultimately, OSAAT believes that the ability to establish and maintain relationships is the key to social inclusion. Therefore, our vision is holistic, embracing not just material needs, but all aspects of a person's life, from education to social and vocational skills, as well as recreational and leisure activities.

  • Dual diagnosis
  • Complex needs
  • Autism and Aspergers

One Step at a Time now leads in the development of supported living services for the CareTech Group.

Norwood

Norwood Supported Living has services based within Lambeth and surrounding boroughs.  We offer support to individuals diagnosed with a Learning Disability, challenging behavior and complex needs, Mental Health needs, as well as young people leaving care. This service was developed in 2008 when we secured 4 new 3 bedroom terraced houses on Robson Road.  The nature of the tenancies held vary, as some individuals have designated a room for staff to sleep in as they require night support higher than assistive technology aids can deliver.  Some utilise assistive technology aids and live alone and others choose to live with 1 or 2 other tenants.

The success of the first properties led to the service expanding into the wider community and it now offers a range of different options to meet a range of different needs and choices in Norwood and other surrounding areas, such as Crystal Palace and Streatham.  They now offer outreach support to individuals who live within their own homes or choose to remain living with relatives, to single occupancy flats and other properties offering shared support as well as 1 – 1 support.

This service has recently developed a block of 9 self - contained flats to offer individuals another option and pathway to independence.

Surrey Supported Living

The services were developed in 2011 due to a referral for an individual who was struggling to locate Supported Living in his chosen area; Woking.  After assessing this individual and helping him identify his support needs we helped him identify a suitable property and helped him plan the transition from college.  We then supported him to identify 2 other individuals who he would like to share with.

We now have supported 5 further shared properties and provide outreach to individuals within their own homes. These properties are based mainly within West Surrey at present with work underway to establish services within East Surrey as well as Hampshire. The main areas of focus for a number of the individuals within these services has been understanding their tenancy and independence development within education and employment and finance management as well as social networking.

Ilford Supported Living

The Ilford Supported Living service has developed and evolved over the past six years, having originally been acquired by Care Tech from another provider organisation at that time.

The service provides both individually tailored support to people in shared accommodation, at two separate locations, and bespoke packages of outreach support; all to people with a learning disability in the local area. Ilford is a busy multicultural area providing a huge range of opportunities and amenities and excellent transport links.

The two separate properties providing shared accommodation are within easy walking distance of local shops and restaurants and provide people with varying amounts of support in accordance with their individual needs. Outreach support may be provided to anyone with a learning disability in the local area; for example, to people who choose to live with parents, relatives or friends or who wish to live in other accommodation, which they have sourced for themselves. We can also assist people seeking accommodation that meets their individual requirements. The support provided to these people may vary from full 1:1 support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to targeted hours to assist with particular aspects of life or at times when other support is not available or requires supplementing.

We offers support to individuals diagnosed with a learning disability, people who may present challenging behaviors and/or additional mental health needs or histories of social challenge. Our aim is to provide outcome focused targeted and individualised local support within the secure framework provided by an organization with the infrastructure resources of a nationally based company. We work closely with service users and their wider circle to ensure we provide the support people want.
