Henley
Our head office in Henley is registered with CQC for the provision of personal care throughout One Step at a Time. In addition, it houses our support team for supported living services throughout Berkshire and the surrounding counties, as well as our head office functions. Any queries relating to our service, including enquiries regarding our service and possible referrals can be directed through this office.
Reading
Our support team in Henley provides services for young people leaving care and individuals with a learning disability throughout Reading. Our service offers a range of accommodation, including sole occupancy and shared housing, with levels of support ranging from 14 hours 1:1 per week to 24 hours on-site staffing and dedicated 1:1 support.
Oxford
We currently support individuals in satellite services across Oxfordshire that offer 24-hour, 1:1 support. Over the coming months, we are planning to increase our presence in the area and expand our services so that these services can offer shared provisions in addition to single occupancy.
Norfolk
We have recently developed services in Norfolk that provide services to individuals with learning disabilities. Our current provision offers support to four individuals within two shared houses that each have their own person-centered plan. We are currently working with commissioning bodies to further develop services in this area.
Hitchin
Our Hitchin service supports individuals countywide throughout Hertfordshire. It provides semi-independent support services for young people leaving care and vulnerable adults with learning disabilities and complex needs. We are able to support individuals in their own home or provide accommodation-based support, dependent on individual need. The Hitchin service has successfully adopted shared housing for care leavers, with a maximum of three young people sharing, with on-site 24-hour support and an overlay of 1:1 key worker hours for each individual. We also support adults with learning disabilities to live in a shared environment of their choice and have specifically set up services for those that refer to us with a sharer already identified e.g. two individuals with varying needs who have made the choice to live together when moving on from a residential college.
Barnet
The London borough of Barnet hosts two One Step at a Time services. Ivy House is a six-bed shared supported living unit, staffed 24 hours a day and providing support to individuals with learning disabilities. Each individual is provided with their own tenancy and has access to a communal living room and kitchen facilities.
We also have a service in North Finchley that provides support to individuals within their own homes or in shared provisions across North and West London. There are three flats in North Finchley adjoined to a staffed office, providing access to on-site 24-hour staffing. This service provides semi-independent supported living services for young people leaving care and vulnerable adults with learning difficulties and complex needs.
Potters Bar
Morvern House is a large National Trust property in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, which has recently been extensively redeveloped from a traditional residential home to a modern supported living environment, with six independent flats providing accommodation for nine people.
The service has been designed for young people aged 18-25 who may have lived in residential schools or residential care services and who aspire to have a place of their own. At Morvern House we are supporting a number of young people with complex needs, from transition through to a more independent lifestyle within a supported living environment. There is 24-hour staffing within the property, with each person that we support having their own support hours drawn from the core staff team or via additional 1:1 or 2:1 support hours.
